About Chitravala

Q1. What is Chitravala?

Chitravala is an AI studio for Indian celebrations. Say or type what you're celebrating, pick a template or effect, add a photo if you like, and Chitravala makes invites, greetings and posts — plus short videos and voice notes — ready to share on WhatsApp, Status and Instagram.

Q2. What can I make?

  • Invites and greetings for birthdays, weddings, baby showers, festivals and more, in several sizes
  • Short videos, from a brief or from a finished image ("Make it move")
  • Voice notes that speak your invitation or greeting
  • Photo effects — restore an old photo, colourise a black-and-white photo, or turn a portrait into art

Q3. Why are names and dates spelled correctly?

Because the AI never draws them. Names, dates, places and prices are added by Chitravala as text layers on top of the design, and they are not sent to the image model. You can change them in the editor at any time, for free.

Coins & Pricing

Q4. Is Chitravala free?

Yes. At launch, everything is free. You get signup coins when you join and a free coin every day you come back. Paid plans and coin packs will come later; they are shown in the app for information but can't be bought yet. There may be a daily limit on the number of creations per account.

Q5. What are coins?

Coins are how creations are priced: a simple image costs fewer coins than a video. The coin price is always shown before you create. Coins are not money — they can't be cashed out or transferred. The daily coin expires at midnight India time if you don't use it; other coins expire as shown in your account.

Q6. What happens if a creation fails?

Your coins come back automatically. Coins are only held while a creation is being made, and charged when it succeeds. If it fails, you cancel it, or it is blocked by our safety checks, the coins are returned in full. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Q7. Will there be refunds for paid plans?

Once payments launch, first purchases will have a 7-day money-back window if the coins haven't been used, and duplicate or wrong charges will always be refunded. The full terms are in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Languages & Voice

Q8. Which languages does Chitravala support?

Chitravala is built for 11 languages: English, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Kannada, Gujarati, Malayalam and Punjabi. Some are being switched on gradually; the language picker shows which are ready and which are coming soon.

Q9. Can I speak instead of typing?

Yes. Tap the mic and describe what you want. Your clip is sent to our speech provider to turn it into text, and the recording is not kept.

Q10. Whose voice is used in voice notes?

A synthetic voice that you choose from our voice catalogue. We don't clone your voice or anyone else's.

Privacy & Safety

Q11. Is it safe to upload family photos?

Yes. Your photos are used only to make what you asked for, they are private to your account, and we don't use your photos, voice or creations to train our AI models. We don't sell your data. Photos are sent to the AI providers that make your creation and checked by automated safety checks. See our Privacy Policy.

Q12. Can I use photos of other people?

Only if you have their consent — or, for a child, if you are their parent or guardian or have their parent's consent. The app asks you to confirm consent for photos with faces, and we keep a record of that confirmation. Never use someone's photo to make them look like they said or did something they didn't. Q13. Who can see my creations?

Only you, unless you share them. A public share link opens for anyone who has it; a private link opens only for you, and you can switch between them any time. If you submit a creation to Explore, it appears in the public gallery only after our team approves it, and making the link private removes it.

Q14. What does "Made with AI" mean?

Every file you download carries a hidden "Made with AI" label (metadata), and some pages show a visible mark. Indian rules require AI-generated content to be identifiable, so please don't remove these labels or pass a creation off as a real photo.

Q15. Someone made a creation with my photo. What do I do?

Tap Report on the share page, or email grievance@chitravala.com with the link. Content showing a person in a sexual or intimate way, or impersonating them, is acted on as a priority.

Account & Data

Q16. How do I sign in?

With your Google account. We get your name, email and profile picture from Google, never your password.

Q17. How do I download my data?

Go to Account and tap Download my data. We prepare a zip file with your profile, coin history, creations and original files; the download link appears in Account when it's ready.

Q18. How do I delete my account?

Go to Account and tap Delete account. Your account closes straight away, your share links become private, and after 30 days your files and personal details are permanently deleted. Coin and payment records are kept without your personal details, as the law requires. You can also delete individual creations or "my face" reference photos at any time.

Sharing & Support

Q19. How do I share on WhatsApp?

Open a finished creation, tap Export, and choose WhatsApp. You can also download the file or copy a share link.

Q21. What if I'm not satisfied with support?

Escalate to our Grievance Officer at grievance@chitravala.com. Escalations are acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within 15 working days, as the IT Rules 2021 require.
